This system determines as to which of the four contestants first pressed the button and locks out the remaining three entries. Simultaneously, an audio alarm and the correct decimal number display of the corresponding contestant are activated. The main concept of this project is to develop a fastest-finger-first quiz buzzer which can be used to know the person who pressed the buzzer fast of all among a group of people.
The proposed system uses a D-flip-flop and a rectified power supply. In this system, 8-push button switches are interfaced to the circuit to provide input signals. A string of LEDs and piezo buzzer are connected to the circuit with the help of a transistor to give indication. A Quiz buzzer allows any user to press the switch to generate a logic signal, which is fed to the D-flip-flop. The flip-flop generates a corresponding O/P signal to trigger the transistor. The transistor activates the piezo buzzer to give an alert along with the indication of the switch pressed with the LEDs. Even if many switches are pressed at the same time, the D-flip flap – working as a priority encoder – takes into account the first switch pressed, for consideration.
